Security and data handling
What we do to keep a rented Mac mini yours alone, what you get, and what stays your job. Where a detail has not been published yet, this page says so rather than guessing.
One customer per machine
Every rental is a physical Mac mini used by exactly one customer for the length of the subscription. There is no hypervisor and no other tenant on the hardware. When a rental ends, the storage is securely erased and macOS is reinstalled before the machine is assigned to anyone else.
How you receive access
Connection details for SSH and remote desktop appear only inside your signed-in dashboard; we never send credentials by plain email. You can add your own SSH public key once connected and should prefer keys over passwords. Two-factor protection on your MacMiniNode account is Firebase Authentication’s, through your Google account or your email provider.
Administrator access and its limits
You receive administrator access, subject to security and licensing requirements. You can install software and change most settings. You may not disable the management and security controls we rely on to operate the machine, and macOS use must follow Apple’s software license terms. If a change you need is blocked, open a ticket and we will tell you plainly whether it is possible.
Payments
Card details are entered directly into Helcim’s PCI-compliant form and never pass through MacMiniNode systems. We store only a tokenized reference, the card brand, and the last four digits.
Your responsibilities
Back up anything you cannot afford to lose; we do not keep copies of your data. Keep your own accounts, keys, and tokens scoped to what the machine needs. Use within the Acceptable Use Policy. Report a suspected vulnerability through a support ticket marked as a machine incident, or by email if a support address is listed; please do not post details publicly.
Policies
The Privacy Policy lists what we collect and the processors we use (Google Firebase, Helcim). The Acceptable Use Policy lists permitted uses, and the Terms of Service cover responsibility boundaries and Apple’s licensing conditions.
