Dedicated Mac mini hosting
Mac mini hosting means we own, rack, power, and connect the Mac mini, and you use it as if it were on your desk. MacMiniNode hosts dedicated Mac minis for one customer each: no shared tenancy, no hypervisor. It suits businesses and teams that need macOS available around the clock without maintaining Apple hardware on site.
Who it is for
- Engineering teams that need a macOS build or test machine reachable from anywhere
- Agencies and consultancies delivering Apple-platform work for clients
- Operations teams running scheduled jobs, automation, or monitoring that must run on macOS
- Companies that prefer predictable monthly costs over purchasing and depreciating hardware
What is included in hosting
- The machine itself: a dedicated 2026 Mac mini M6, 16GB unified memory, 256GB SSD
- A clean macOS installation prepared for you, with administrator access subject to security and licensing requirements
- Power, network connectivity, and physical housing in our facility
- Secure remote access over SSH and remote desktop, with credentials delivered inside your dashboard
- Human support through tickets, with machine-access incidents prioritized
Hosting benefits for a business
Hardware becomes an operating expense: one monthly price per machine, no setup fee, and no annual commitment. You can stop a renewal when a project ends instead of owning a Mac you no longer need.
Nobody on your team has to keep a Mac mini running in a closet. We handle power, connectivity, operating system preparation, and secure erasure when the rental ends.
Each machine is single-tenant. Your builds, credentials, and data are not sharing a CPU, memory, or disk with another customer.
Dedicated hosting versus shared or virtual Mac hosting
| MacMiniNode dedicated hosting | Shared or virtualized Mac hosting | |
|---|---|---|
| Hardware | One physical Mac mini per customer | A virtual machine or a slice of a shared host |
| Performance | Full CPU, GPU, memory, and SSD of the machine | Depends on neighbours and the hypervisor’s allocation |
| macOS licensing | Operated under Apple’s terms for leased hardware | Varies; virtualized macOS has its own license constraints |
| Provisioning | Prepared by staff; not instant | Often minutes |
| Best for | Steady, long-running workloads that need the whole machine | Short bursts where instant start matters more than isolation |
How remote access works
Your Mac mini stays powered on in our facility. You connect to it over the internet from a Mac, Windows PC, Linux machine, or tablet using two supported methods: SSH for the terminal, and remote desktop for the full macOS interface.
Connection details and step-by-step instructions appear inside your signed-in dashboard once the machine is ready; we never send credentials by plain email. Your files, tools, and sessions persist between connections, so you can disconnect and pick up where you left off.
Setup and onboarding
- STEP 1
Create an account
Sign up with your email or Google account and verify your address. No payment is collected at this step.
- STEP 2
Request your Mac
Tell us how you plan to use it and accept the terms. We review every request by hand.
- STEP 3
We prepare the machine
A team member assigns a dedicated Mac mini to you, installs a clean copy of macOS, and configures secure remote access.
- STEP 4
Start your subscription and connect
When it is ready we email you. You set up payment, billing starts at activation, and your connection details appear in the dashboard.
Real limitations and requirements
- Machines are prepared by people, not provisioned instantly. Expect days, not minutes; your dashboard shows each stage.
- One customer per computer. Sharing a machine among several end users, reselling access, or sublicensing is not permitted.
- Administrator access is included but subject to security and licensing requirements: you cannot disable the management controls we rely on, and macOS use must follow Apple’s software license terms.
- Permitted use is developer and business computing: software development, testing, CI, automation, and AI coding agents. See the Acceptable Use Policy.
- No physical access to the hardware, and no hardware changes (memory and storage are fixed at the configuration you rent).
- Third-party subscriptions are not included: Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, the Apple Developer Program, and any licensed software are yours to bring.
- You are responsible for your own backups. When a rental ends, the storage is securely erased before the hardware is reassigned.
Questions about this
Where is the hosted Mac mini located?
In a MacMiniNode-operated facility. The machine stays there for the whole rental; physical access is not part of the service. Contact us if your project has specific location or compliance requirements and we will tell you plainly whether we can meet them.
Do you guarantee uptime?
We do not publish an uptime guarantee today. Machines are kept powered and connected, incidents affecting access are prioritized in support, and we will be honest about what we can and cannot commit to for your use case.
Can several people on my team use one hosted Mac?
A machine is licensed for a single customer’s use. Multiple end users sharing one Mac mini is not permitted. Teams that need more than one machine can request more than one subscription.
Can I host my own Mac mini with you instead?
Not at the moment. We rent machines we own and prepare; customer-supplied hardware colocation is not offered.
