// Dedicated Mac mini
Dedicated Mac mini: your own physical Apple hardware
Dedicated means one physical Mac mini assigned to one customer. Nothing on the machine is shared: the 12-core CPU, 12-core GPU, 16GB of unified memory, and 256GB SSD are yours for the length of the rental. MacMiniNode does not run a hypervisor or anyone else’s workloads on your hardware.
Who it is for
- Workloads that need consistent, predictable performance such as compilation, test suites, and media processing
- Security-conscious teams that do not want their code and credentials on shared infrastructure
- Developers who need bare-metal macOS features that virtualized Macs restrict
- Anyone who wants a machine that behaves exactly like a Mac mini on their desk, because it is one
Hardware specifications
- Model: 2026 Mac mini with the Apple M6 chip
- CPU: 12-core; GPU: 12-core
- Memory: 16GB unified memory
- Storage: 256GB SSD
- Operating system: macOS, installed clean for each customer
- Dedicated physical hardware; one customer per computer
What dedicated means in practice
- No noisy neighbours: another customer’s build cannot slow yours down
- Native Apple silicon: Xcode, simulators, and Apple frameworks run as they do on any Mac mini
- A clean macOS installation prepared for you, and secure erasure of the SSD when your rental ends
- Administrator access, subject to security and licensing requirements
Dedicated Mac mini versus virtual Mac
| Dedicated Mac mini | Virtual Mac | |
|---|---|---|
| Isolation | Physical: your own CPU, memory, and disk | Logical: shared host, separated by a hypervisor |
| Performance variability | Consistent | Can vary with other tenants |
| Hardware features | Everything the Mac mini supports | Limited by the virtualization layer |
| Provisioning time | Prepared by staff | Typically fast |
| Price model | Flat monthly rate per machine | Often hourly or per-VM |
How remote access works
Your Mac mini stays powered on in our facility. You connect to it over the internet from a Mac, Windows PC, Linux machine, or tablet using two supported methods: SSH for the terminal, and remote desktop for the full macOS interface.
Connection details and step-by-step instructions appear inside your signed-in dashboard once the machine is ready; we never send credentials by plain email. Your files, tools, and sessions persist between connections, so you can disconnect and pick up where you left off.
Setup and onboarding
- STEP 1
Create an account
Sign up with your email or Google account and verify your address. No payment is collected at this step.
- STEP 2
Request your Mac
Tell us how you plan to use it and accept the terms. We review every request by hand.
- STEP 3
We prepare the machine
A team member assigns a dedicated Mac mini to you, installs a clean copy of macOS, and configures secure remote access.
- STEP 4
Start your subscription and connect
When it is ready we email you. You set up payment, billing starts at activation, and your connection details appear in the dashboard.
Real limitations and requirements
- Machines are prepared by people, not provisioned instantly. Expect days, not minutes; your dashboard shows each stage.
- One customer per computer. Sharing a machine among several end users, reselling access, or sublicensing is not permitted.
- Administrator access is included but subject to security and licensing requirements: you cannot disable the management controls we rely on, and macOS use must follow Apple’s software license terms.
- Permitted use is developer and business computing: software development, testing, CI, automation, and AI coding agents. See the Acceptable Use Policy.
- No physical access to the hardware, and no hardware changes (memory and storage are fixed at the configuration you rent).
- Third-party subscriptions are not included: Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, the Apple Developer Program, and any licensed software are yours to bring.
- You are responsible for your own backups. When a rental ends, the storage is securely erased before the hardware is reassigned.
Questions about this
Can I choose a different configuration or more memory?
Right now we offer one configuration: Mac mini M6, 16GB, 256GB. Other configurations are not available yet. If you need something different, use the contact page and tell us what you need.
Can I use the dedicated Mac mini as a server?
Yes, within the Acceptable Use Policy. It is always on and reachable over SSH, so it can run build agents, test runners, schedulers, and other developer services. It is not intended for public web hosting at scale or for workloads outside permitted developer and business use.
Do I get root or administrator access?
You receive administrator access subject to security and licensing requirements. You can install software and change most settings, but not disable the management controls needed to operate the service.
